This 1915 Mediterranean Revival style home has seen and made a lot of history. Originally built as a stately private residence in 1915 for a prominent banker, this home has been continuously occupied except for a brief period in the 1970s. As the first two occupants were families, some people were born here and have been back to visit and share their stories and memories of this grand old house.

Over the years, a kindergarten, a restaurant, and even apartments existed here. In 1984, this grand building received two years of tender loving care to restore it to its former glory. And in 1986, Casa de la Paz was created, and since then has offered respite to any who care to visit.

Through expansive windows, one enjoys a breathtaking view of the scenic Matanzas Bay. Elegant yet comfortable furnishings, heart of pine floors, and rich upholstery enhance the comfort of the interior. Lush plants including the inn’s namesake, Peace Lily, thrive both indoors and out.

Our rooms offer spectacular views of the bay, the Bridge of Lions, the Lighthouse, and our lush courtyard. Each of our seven rooms has a king or queen-size bed, private baths, telephone, cable TV, iron and ironing board, alarm clock/radio, and hair dryer.  Each room is uniquely designed to offer comfort, quiet, and a home away from home with distinctive décor unique to each room. Our third floor rooms offer total romance with whirlpool tubs and working gas fireplaces.

Awaken to the fragrant aromas of our freshly brewed special blend of Columbian coffee. Our made-from-scratch breakfasts will satisfy any appetite. Have special diet needs or choices like Atkins, South Beach, Low Fat, vegetarian, etc? Just let us know at the time of reservation and we will be happy to keep you on track.

We delight in preparing traditional favorites like Blueberry Pecan French Toast, eggs benedict, and a variety of unique quiches and omelets. You will start your breakfast with a tantalizing first course, which could be fresh fruit salad, baked streusel pears, or broiled grapefruit. We guarantee that on stays up to 7 days, you will never eat the same thing twice!

Enjoy views of the bay while dining at tables for two or join in the conversation at our 10-foot mahogany dining table under the twinkle of a stunning 735-point crystal chandelier.

Above all, it is peaceful at Casa de la Paz while offering a centrally located base to partake of the area’s activities. Breezes rustle the palm branches in the shaded courtyard. Water trickles over the St. Francis wall fountain or cascades from our waterfall pond. Sit and watch the fish swim while you enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the shaded courtyard. Sunlight streams onto the second floor Verandah where you can see the bay or courtyard. Watch the world go by as you read the paper while relaxing in our Bayfront parlor and as the soft music lulls you to calmness. Walk in to the smell of our afternoon baking of desserts for your munching pleasure. Horse drawn carriages line up along the Bayfront while seagulls soar overheard, and fishing and sailboats pass by our ever-changing parlor view.

Our goal is to provide a warm welcoming place so you can forget about the day-to-day stresses of life. Rekindle a romance, pop the question, celebrate a birthday, or tie the knot to make your visit even more special. We will do anything you require to make your getaway as romantic, stress free and rejuvenating as it can possibly be. Visit Packages for more information on theme-centered trips. Or let us know if you have a Special Request and we will make it happen.
